Nothing Special

This is me in front of the entrance of Philosophical Faculty, the place where I study.

Inside the faculty, the courtyard. I think I look a bit nerd or someone who comes out from a small village.

In front of International Liaison Office, my coursemate who helped me to take pictures kept saying she can't anything about my looks -_-'

This is me in the center of our Central Library of Palacky University, behind me that is actually a big bowl of water, I wonder if there is a small fountain?

This is me in front of the entrance to the Library, I really like the library, it is a very good environment to study.

You can bring your own laptop in here because there are a lot of LAN ports.

If you study till late, don't worry, there are some table lamps too... :) I haven't started but soon to be...

The corridor... It's considered a huge library but sadly most of the collections are in Czech language. There are some English sections too, but the thing is you need seek and hunt the "treasure"!


A very important place that can't be forgotten! That's student menza (we called it "canteen" in Malaysia), I think it looks like a modern cafe than a typical canteen!

They even serve beers here in the student menza bar! Cool!

When I walked towards the cafe, I saw this church, I thought I was just surrounded by all historical buildings, like back into medieval ages...

In down town, I found a cute thing which at first I thought was somebody selling something with a stall like in our "pasar malam". Later when I took a closer look, it's a 3D statue map of Olomouc city like my "LEGO" last time!

During our orientation week, some student volunteers brought us to visit Olomouc City Town Hall.

In the City Town Hall, this is a church that only allows people to come in during important praying ceremony, it can be considered that we are honoured to visit it.

This is a church in the CTH for wedding ceremony. There was a pretty Czech lady, Sylvia who speaks English very well explaining to us the history of the CTH and this church.

Although I didn't pay full attention to what the lady said (or I didn't understand all of them), I still think this is a very beautiful church and I start imaging myself in the next five years... :P

The lady explained something about Czech parliament and this is a fresco which depicts their hierarchy. One interesting myth about this fresco, if the bride is pretty, when she walks out from this church, the man in blue cloth at the lowest part will blink!!

After visiting the church, we proceeded to climb 15 of this stair case to the top of city tower, below are our rewards...

Finally... this is me at the top of city tower with a girl from Germany, Swetlana (on the left) and Sylvia (on the right) who is our tour guide. So you know why I don't really want to post my picture as I think I really look like...

The City Centre, or people call it down town...

I was so excited to find a Chinese Restaurant in Olomouc, which is called "China Restaurant", they are selling mainly Shanghai cruisine but it's very expensive like our Six Happiness. I guess I will go there for one time when I got enough money or really sick of the local foods...

There is a McDonald in down town too, yet I haven't try it out because the prices are very expensive too. It cost 100 crowns (means about RM17) for one hamburger!. Yet, I will try it out when I got my scholarship banked into my bank account! Beside McDonald there is a tourist centre for tourist to exchange currency and get some tourism information about Olomouc.

Another view of city centre, I find it's really clean. However, the surface of road is uneven because of its material, like big bricks but with cracks in between... and the cars are really speeding! There is no fix lane, sometimes it's quite scary because I don't know where to escape when the cars come!

Even their backstreet, I think it looks quite nice too~ But later I found that they got some quite bad backstreets too, but not going to show it here...haha

This is the tram station, the yellow box is a machine where you can buy your tram ticket, about RM2 per ticket, but you can take any tram within 24 hours without buying a second ticket. It's cheap. However, you have to always have some coins with you to get a tram ticket. Therefore, I have already bought a three-month tram pass ticket for about RM50, means I only pay RM0.50 for my transportation for the whole day! Cool huh? I am happy because the tram is really on time and you can estimate how much time you need for a destination because it is all stated on a board at the tram station. I am relief that I don't need to drive and stuck in traffic jam anymore. I keep telling my friends here that I have been driving for the past 6 years and now I have to adapt to a walking student life now. Interesting...

While I am waiting for tram at the station, I found it's a beautiful graveyard right in front the tram station. However, I am not afraid or feeling "geli" at all because it is quite beautifully-designed.

This is how it looks like in the tram, I always get a seat because our dormitory is the first stop for all the trams. People here are quite good-mannered. If a youngster saw an old folk, they will stand up straight away to give way to the old folk. It's really common here which I don't see this happening in Malaysia. -_-' And people here are quite disciplined too because nobody will check your tram ticket when you are in the tram, still they get on the tram after they buy the tram ticket. This is because there would be some plain cloth officer to check on them on and off. :)

University of Palacky is not exactly a campus, its buildings are everywhere in Olomouc, depends which faculty it is. This is the "Konvict", where I have my orientation on the first day.

This is how it looks like when you enter in here. The environment is really clean and organized. I am surprised by the security system in this historical building. Besides keys, the academic staff needs an electronic identification card to swipe and open some class rooms. Although these class rooms have been built many years ago, but it is still protected by the latest technology! I am quite honored to study at the second oldest University in Czech Republic, it started on 16 century! A few hundred years ago...!!

This is a view that I see it everyday from my room, it is kinda like a nicely built flat in Malaysia, just with more colours and designs. I can people sitting on their balcony reading books.

I stay at the first floor, Neredin IV, room B112. I really thank god because I don't have to carry all my luggages all the way up to fifth floor, because there is not lifts or elevators!! I love first floor, although there is no balcony for me.

My bed with some shelves up there for me to put my stuffs, I am trying very hard to keep it tidy :P

The place where I get my mobile number reload card, they called it "recharging" - it's in the shopping mall, but I got my number at the Prague train station.
I think the BREAD session is huge here, really HUGE, you can get all kinds of bread here. I think I am going to get FAT. Sadly, I still don't know how to order food here. SAD SAD. But I know I really need to pick up their language here. If not I will ending up having surprises by just pointing at the menu to order.
